MAHE MUNICIPALITIY

Municipality Office Mahe municipality had come into existence about 200 years back, during the French Regime. Mahe Municipal area is comprised of 9 sq.Km, and has one Assembly constituency. The last Mayor and the first chairman of this Municipality was Late. V. N. Purushothaman. At present there is no Municipal Council in Mahe as no election has been conducted after 2011. At present the Regional Administrator, Mahe has the power of the Chairman in the capacity of Special Officer of the Mahe Municipal Council.
Pondicherry is the capital city of The Union Territory of Puducherry and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in South India.
Objectives To guide and control the physical growth and balanced development of the notified planning area for the planning authority created under section 11 of ‘The Pondicherry Town and Country Planning Act, 1969’.

Consolidation of Annual Administration Reports of Local Bodies and submission to Government.
At present, there are 5 Municipalities, 10 Commune Panchayats and 98 Village Panchayats in the Union Territory of Puducherry.
